Is SPEAK trying to cheat in this upcoming election???
MUSA General Secretary, Lim Cze Wien, who ran under SPEAK party at last year's MUSA Elections, appointed Desmond Chin to be the Deputy Returning Officer.
Now, what does Desmond and Cze Wien have in common?
The fact is that both of them are in a relationship!!
By being in a relationship, could there be some personal interest between Desmond and SPEAK?
Furthermore, there was no official notice put up for potential returning officers to be interviewed. And these returning officers are paid, once again, using our student funds.
Another case of unequal opportunity, except this time, involving student funds?
We leave it to you to decide... Is this appointment fair? Will this contribute to SPEAK's potential of cheating in elections?
You decide!

What can we students help in order to solve this matter? I'm really dissatisfied with what is going on. I really didn't know all these things are happening. The most "bull shit" thing is the laptop issue. Who approved them doing so? Is there anyone we can complaint to regarding the transparency of funds used for now?
To Andrew liew, the accusations made by the so forth author of this blog are baseless and most probably heard from a third person point of view. The laptop issue is really an overblown matter, making a mountain out of a molehill. Please do visit http://musaontheweb.blogspot.com/ for clarification of the matter. And if you are a current Monash student, you would realise that the music blaring from the speakers at the Ball ticketing counter is in fact the laptop from MUSA itself.
Our current student council works well with the Aministrators of Monash, with every decision taken being supervised by the admins themsleves.
Gosh I've never thought MUSA could be so irresponsible!
To Chris, yes I have read the MUSA site but still I do not think MUSA needs to purportedly purchase a new laptop for the reasons stated. Especially so when the previous councils are able to work effectively without laptops. I could testify for this statement as I have worked in MUSA projects previous years.
What can we students do about this? If what Chris said that MUSA works closely with the admin is true, the admin must be out of their minds to approve the laptop purchase! It pisses students off like me! Or are the admins equally insensitive to students? Since they have not improved our cafeteria much, I do personally question their effectiveness.
I'm totally dissatisfied and I really wish something would be done about it.
SPEAK sounds like another Barisan National to me. I'm not happy!
LOL SPEAK = BN!
bn pandai cakap banyak banyak. tapi kenapa tak banyak orang support?
kerana mereka 'bull shit' banyak banyak!
now i see the correlation between speak and bn: both also same same corrupted and only know how to talk. But no action, and they think we're stupid and dunno anything.
no wonder they're called speak! LOL!
To Christine Chew, personally are these accusations and pissy mode that you are in based on your personal assumptions or just from hearing from a third party person. MUSA is an open space where students are invited openly to see how the work goes. In the past, during council meetings, each council members are handed the council minutes, and each is a hundred page long (no kidding). you do the math when all the council members (20++) are present and each are given a stack of paper to work with. And that is just for one meeting. There is a meeting for every month.
Woking as effective? - Yes
Wasting paper? - No.
Anyways, it will be students like you who are never present or try to get involved in the activities in MUSA that will cause such problems. We are transparent, the choice is whether you want to see it from your own eyes or just hear from a thir person view and flame everybody.
Do step into the MUSA doors, and use that part of your anatomy that got you into this university in the first place to think wisely before flaming.
Its just like how would you know is Anwar sodomized that poor bastard? Do you believe the paper or believe in Anwar. The only difference is that the truth is just there, and you chose to ignore it.
Honestly, would you believe an anonymous person slandering someone/party on a free blogging site?
This is just like reading the tabloids or reading an established newpaper. Which would you believe.
If the author of this blog would actually have the guts to reveal himself instead of slandering, and come out with proof of such wrong doings that MUSA has done, please do so.This is the reality, don't think that you can hide behind the anonymity of the Internet and speak your mind.
Have the decency to at least reveal who you are. Your parents gave you a name. Maybe it is time for you to use it then.
Or maybe you just failed abortion.
To Christine, since you have worked in MUSA projects, what exactly have you worked on?A gossip monger?
If the admins are equally insensitive, I suggest you upgrade yourself to a better university as this university is not worth of your presence. A pissy student like you is GOD-like to us humble students. But hey, we pay the same student council fees.
And about the cafeteria, do you actually know the history behind on how it got into this in the first place. I think you should be blaming Jeffry Cheah and his relatives, not the admins of Monash. Get your facts right woman/man/whatever you are. If you do know, then why not share with us. After all, a pissy student is , well,a pissy student.
chris :Have the decency to at least reveal who you are. Your parents gave you a name. Maybe it is time for you to use it then.
May i know what is your full name? best is your picture because your parents gave you your face.
For those of you accusing the Student Council of transparency issues, as Chris has rightly pointed out, there always existed an avenue for you people to find out what was going on, you just had to exercise your right. Anybody who's interested in checking out the MUSA accounts, feel free to look for me in my office. Many non-council people have indeed seen the accounts, and I have always obliged to even the tiniest curiosity.
Besides, I'm almost always here by 7am for crying out loud. Give me something to do in the mornings.
Lastly, stop referring to the current council "SPEAK" for goodness sake. I've not been involved in anything "SPEAK" for about a year now. It was just a ticket for running in the elections; if the component parts of the Council can't work together, or if everyone in the council is just a "Yes"-man to others in their ticket, it'd be disastrous.
i personally disagree with everything that has just been stated in this blog. considering i used to sit in during some of the meetings, MUSA has always worked their best for the sake of the students in mind.
the laptop was necessary because wastage of paper could not be afforded anymore and in supoort of MONASH GREEN, we decided to be more economical. how many of us would have time to go through heaps of paper to find something out when you can have everything (backup copies) in the laptop... and used when necessary?
and basically, i can't even believe that we're being called SPEAK! considering the current MUSA committee isn't compromised of ex-SPEAK parties formed last year, i cant believe that they have to be accussed like that. i would like to remind the author that these sorts of accusiations, which are not researched and done based on rumours and pure biasness, is pure bullshit. so please, if you want to argue, GET CONCRETE PROOF LIKE PICTURES OF SAID EVENTS!!!!!
pictures... or they're all lies!
Did MUSA pay you to say that?
well i was paid to tell the public that i sodomized anwar!
Hidup BN! Hidup SPEAK! Keep paying me and i'll do and say anything you wish!
Although this blog has its facts, the facts themselves have been coveniently twisted to suit the author of this blog.
What you, the author, of this blog has done is slander, and if I am not mistaken, is actually a criminal offence.
I have been around the MUSA student council, both past and present, long enough to in fact know that these allegations are false.
If you want to know what has been done with the students' money, think carefully. Events organised by the MUSA council uses students funds. The welcome back party, street carnival, the monash ball. If not, how do you think they even organised such events? do you think it was done free of charge? if so, then all i can say is you are a dimwitted twit.
The MUSA student council have been working closely with the Monash admins, and have their support.
Therefore my advice to you, the author of this blog, is to grow up, get ur facts right and not twist them around, grow some balls and stop hiding anonymously.
Also, to that dimwit "Saiful"; grow up.
regards,
Jeff.
and in addition, did you really think MUSA would put into official records if they have eaten money for themselves? even official records can lie!
To Jeff: what did MUSA offer you to talk on behalf of them? A spot as a Mr Monash finalist, which you clearly don't have the looks and body to qualify?
it's so easy to buy people over.
Is this Jeff the wannabe-mr.monash from last year? If yes.. i really dunno what to say... Not lengjai at all!! in my eyes, is jz a desperado who thought himself is always correct n world should bow down to him..
sheesh.. pls look at urself in the mirror...
now i see that there is injustice in Monash, where it is more important 'who-you-KNOW' than all the number of students...
i mean.. c'mon.. how can this guy ever get into the finalist list?
Now that's a crime.
Well I suggest that if you guys do not want to be accused for all the wrong doings wrongly, you guys should provide the account information to the student like what the Selangor state government plan to do. Though some may accused of "window dressing", this problem can't be avoided but at least you guys take the initiative to promote transparency. Give accounting information through student email or even posting it in the blog. I'm not condemning anyone here, but if I got my facts wrong I apologized but, you guys should try find more ways in promoting transparency as promised and not asking people to come and see the account ourselves one by one.
hmm... suddenly andrew reminds me of the laptop purchases by previous MP of Selangor....
Looks like Saiful is just a chinese guy hiding behind a malay name.
Please grow some balls, or save whats left of it. You being anonymous doesn't really reflect you wanting me to show my face.
Maybe you are just the author of this blog trying to counter and slander everyone when you do not have enough supporters to support your own. Are you Christine Chiew as well? Can't make up your mind on your sexuality is it now?
You are an oxygen waster.
Obviously if you do know Jeff and his so called qualities of being obnoxious as you propose, surely you have been around MUSA lounge. Because that is where he always hangs.
THE AUTHOR OF THIS BLOG IS MOST PROBABLY A MEMBER OF THE CURRENT COUNCIL WHO WILL BE RUNNING IN THE FUTURE ELECTIONS UNDER ANOTHER PARTY BY THE NAME OF _M_L_.
Before the elections this blog never came up. WHy only does this blog have to exist when the elections are coming near?
How low can you stoop. I pity your parents for copulating and producing a child like you. To hell with your dad for doing your mum.People like you should not procreate.
btw i study in sunway, not monash.. so i don't hang out in ur lounge...
but i know chris is not in any party rite? maybe jz someone else' dog? yea i waste oxygen, n u help plants produce oxygen by peeing ur fertilizer on the plant... thanks ya! u r saving the world!
btw, r u in a relationship with the MUSA current president? if not maybe u like me? ;)
chris: How low can you stoop. I pity your parents for copulating and producing a child like you. To hell with your dad for doing your mum.People like you should not procreate.

Well i got news also u r very close to SPEAK? No? hmmm... u r standing even lower by going into insulting ppl's momma n pappa... I wonder when was the last time i did that.. probaby Standard 3?
Sunway U eh?
Maybe you are friends with those shitheads from the taekwondo club.
Bunch of loser.
I do have in mind who you are now.And the author of this blog.Don't think technology only will work you way.
To Andrew Liew,
As to your concern regarding the transparency of MUSA, the General Secretary of MUSA has seen to it. The Monash Student Council Meeting Minutes have been posted on MUSA Online, the official website.
saiful, for you to say out loud that i have been'paid' by the MUSA committee is a clear example of biasness!!!! and ACCUSIATION!
you, dear sir, are shooting everyone down without fully understanding who they are, or what they do.
clearly, i bet you haven't done a background check on me, which most people would have started doing. you don't know who i am and are blantantly waving shit at everyone, just so you can act so high and mighty on a pedestal and look down on others?
who do you even think you are?
Musa meeting minutes:

Other info or questions can just post here:
http://musaontheweb.blogspot.com/
any questions regarding any post and handlings directly could have be asked via anonymous email since their name cards with their email addresses are posted on their office doors anyway, thus even when they're not around you can get their contacts. I don't think University students should be baby-sitted
The most important thing of all is knowing the constitution. As the previous anonymous poster had mentioned, stop being cry babies, and get to know the MUSA constitution well, to see what you can do.
For those who are aware of the constitution's contents, they'll already know that the excuses given here: http://musaontheweb.blogspot.com/
in regards to the appointment of the new VP pretty much goes against the constitution on multiple counts.
Here's a little exercise for you all. Go and dig out the constitution as well as the MUSA meeting minutes, and start flooding the PVC's mailbox with complaints on how the MSC had broken the MUSA constitution with their actions.
This is how you fight, by taking it to the PVC, especially considering when this year's president has got a deep phobia of him.
A little bit of advice for those of you who wish to keep their credibility, stay away from personal insults.
Granted, I'm a student at Clayton and even the student council here do have problems including a pending investigation for a big payout.
To the owner of this blog, your timely appearance nearing the elections are certainly convenient. I'm not contravening what you've claimed, but it does cast a shadow of doubt of your true intentions. Think it akin to politics. Yes we all know that oil price reduction right before an election and an increase after is pure coincidence. Sure.
I'm gonna go against my own advice here though, by saying...
"FUCK YOU RETURNING OFFICER OF 2006 ELECTIONS, YOU LANSI ME AND GOT FIRED IN THE PROCESS FOR HEAVEN KNOWS WHAT REASON. I LAUGH IN YOUR PATHETIC FACE N00B."
saiful. the mere fact that you have to resort to baseless accusations and personal attacks speaks volumes about your idiocy and immaturity, and with that, i wish you the best in any future endeavours.
Jeff.
confused? need explainations?
http://musaontheweb.blogspot.com/
whoaa.. finally these have been revealed publicly.. i have been with the council for some time and is well aware of these issues.. firstly, about mr monash finalist, im quite curious of how "you-know-who" got into finalist as he failed to last year.. coz of some connection?
and about using laptop to save paper for meetings.. PLEASE, this is a total bullshit. general meeting is held monthly, and there are lots of laptop to be borrowed from the facilities management department.. the Assistant Manager is very willing to help musa. I don't see any need to purchase a laptop just for monthly meeting when there are many cost-efficient alternatives. about Ball committee using the laptop for ticketing, yea it is much better compared to using paper, BUT, why not borrow from FMD (facilities management department)? music at ticketing booth? haha, FMD has full sound system..
about money being used to subsidize events like street carnival, monash ball etc etc.. yes, im well aware of that.. all the figures look perfectly good in reports.. but, do u have any independent auditor to audit the accounts? ARE YOU SURE that there isnt any single cent being misused, like getting those sponsorships for personal use?
there are too many issues with the current council, caused by abuse of power by certain council members.. but, i really respect some council members who really work like crazy just for the students of monash.. i feel sad for those who got elected and contributing nothing, maybe yes, giving problems?
please don't insult my family or whatever coz im posting as anonymous or asking me to grow balls.. HAHAHA!!! i find it very childish.. being anonymous is a good thing for every party.
Wow. the viewership of this blog has blown overnight.
I think the issues have to be controlled before it goes out of hand.
On the laptop issue, it is agreeable that the purchase will decrease the amount of paper usage. However, do remind that the law of Malaysia I think any country in this world still prefer every important document to be in black and white; as in on paper. It is agreeable as well that going thru 200+ pages of meeting minutes are mind-blogging, but why not the minutes be in two format: one points form (for ppl to read in meeting), another full text(for record purpose). In an event of dispute the text form will overrule everything else. This will help to cut down the paper usage. Who keep the laptop: the admin. Juz to satisfy everyone 'envy'.
On the topic of paper wastage, MUSA should use reused papers. Can you ppl see how many sheets of paper went into the rubbish bin each day? Some of it was only printed half a page, or nothing at all. The cleaners threw away all these regardless of any printing on it or not. If we collect all those reuseable papers from the library and those computers labs everyday, I think they are sufficient to last for one semester.
On the issue of appointment of DRO and officers. In any association that deals with money and large population(we, students in this case) it is inappropriate to appoint someone who has close association to the board even he or she has the necessary qualification. I am not saying this is wrong, however human are human. The appointment of someone close to the board or council will only set toungue wagging and ppl will find every opportunity to attack this helpless
soul. A total review of the appointment procedure need to be done to address this issue.
On the issue of meeting minutes not being make available to students. It is very interesting that MUSA only update their web now when everything is blown out of proportion. When they first discovered that their web has problem, they should rectify it straight away rather than later. The students aren't inform of the blog as a temporary measure while the web problem is being sorted out. I personally been onto MUSA web several times to find info on clubs and events but nothing was there. All are either 'under construction' or 'Page Not Found'. MUSA constitution page is, guess what, 'Page Not Found' again! And the meeting minutes isn't there since they revamped the web. People are picky nowadays, and you don't tell ppl to go to MUSA to see the minutes, the minutes must be 'send to their door' then they are satisfied. MUSA should have set up a link on the blackboard so that every one can see the minutes and accounting reports of all councils, clubs and events. Whether the students want to read or not, it's up to them. That's their business!
Talking about the constitution, hopw much has MUSA uphold it is also an issue. The constitution has stated clearly that if there is a position left vacant, there MUST be a by-election. If the whalf of the committee members are gone, a total election has to take place. From I saw in several clubs, the junior or assistant moved up to replace those who have left. Constitution is constitution. No one is above it, not even the president or any officer. Is it fair? I leave it to your guys' judgment.
How much truth or facts have been twisted or untwisted then twisted again by the author, it's up to ppl to judge. We are all old and wise enough to make our own judgment. And to add ppl's parents, 'balls' and all those crap into your argument are totally unnecessary. Don't forget, you ourselves have parents as well. What will you do if someone hurt or flame them?
MUSA works for the best of students - agreeable.
MUSA is no God.- agreeable
Everyone has their opinion- also agreeable.
Be objective and open to criticism. After all we're all Monashians and we're all still learning!
Cheers!
ps: sorry for the long post.
I am currently on the faculty board for the faculty of Business and Economics and before every meeting, we are given a concise version of the agenda and minutes. The full version is available online. By doing this, they have managed to save paper.
In the MUSA minutes that was posted on the MUSA website, they have only been around 8 pages long. If we do the maths and assuming that 1000 pages was used, 1000/8, it would means that you would of being printing minutes for 125 council members!
On the reply given by Darren, that the "laptops cannot be rented for 5 days a week". Could you please clarify which department requires the use of the laptop 5 times a week? As the meeting is held on one day of every month, and the sound system can be borrowed from the facilities (the sound system could be borrowed for more than 5 days a week).
On another note, how come the laptop costed RM4,000, when you stated that the laptop was purchased "below market price". I just visited the Dell website and the cheapest laptop was Rm1,999 while the most expensive laptop was RM3,599.
"Why so serious?" (Joker, 2008)
I’m a student at Monash and I’m greatly surprised on how gullible some people are! Always hear both sides of the story!
There were complaints by students last year on how some of the Mr/Ms Monash candidates were picked only by looks and not by personality and popular demand. A candidate for Mr/Ms Monash isn’t only about looks but as an overall package.
Btw, I tried borrowing the laptop from facilities before, they don’t allow you to borrow it for long. And for crying out loud, if MUSA are going to be charged for replacement of desktops, buying one laptop doesn’t hurt. Pls remember once again that the council members elected democratically by us students are not paid and they are working solely because they are elected by us. They are working to serve us and they were voted in because we trust them. Don’t make wild accusations.
The constitution is an often misunderstood subject. As explained in MUSA’s blog, the post was vacated and filled again, voted unanimously by the council. Appointment was done because it was 3 months before the elections as stated by the constitution. The constitution states that a vacated post is appointed by the council. So why why why is this being made a fuss of? Are there people out there thinking they can do a better job and unhappy because nobody appointed them? Cut the new VP some slack will ya?
The appointment of the DRO is also the council’s decision. It is never wise to appoint somebody who doesn’t know nuts about how elections work. Besides, how can SPEAK cheat? The poll clarks can be made out of anyone!
Do you know once again that the publicity officer is in charge of MUSAonline? With the site down, how to put up minutes?
REALITY CHECK- THE PUBLICITY OFFICER WAS FROM BLAZE AND THE CURRENT PRESIDENT FOR THE TICKET SMILE WAS FROM BLAZE.
If we are using the logic that SPEAK is not doing a good job and the new SPEAK should not be voted in…this also means that since the Publicity officer from BLAZE is not doing his job, so the Party SMILE sucks since their president was also from BLAZE. Yung Lin, the president of smile is the current science rep in the council. Name me one thing he has done related to his job. Paiseh la..engineering reps do so much…IT also…science useless.
Most importantly, the authors of this blog should reveal themselves and have an open debate with the MUSA council. We as students would want to see that!
aiyo zhong loon.. You nvr read ah? Activities use for ticketing ma...5 days a week no?
And you got ask what laptop a not? I saw its a toshiba...they are usually good because of 2-3 years warranty!
Finally, an objective, unbiased viewpoint in a sea of trashtalk. If only everyone thought like you.
Just something to add: The editors requested me to write an article on MUSA expenditure for the upcoming MonGa issue, but due to assignments and work I have been unable to deliver. Funny that this blog should arrive at such a time... now I regret not being able to meet the deadline as an article could've clarified many things.
for those that bash me, bash lah.. wat to do.. i'm saiful wat...
chris.. i'm not from taekwando.. but i'm from silat olahraga..... i always berlaga with fat ppl like u..
u know who am i? so does the whole nation lol... neh... din see my handsome pic on paper meh?
every decisions supervised by admns staff?
Is this for REAL? OMG!
It's a student body run by student? Which part of the above sentence said you need supervision from admin staff? Which part in constitution says u need supervision from ADMIN?
WAKE UP, my god!
All you need to do is to be accountable to your actions! *rolled eyes
@Zhong Loon:
The minutes may be 8 pages long, but you've obviously not seen the compiled reports from council members. In 2007, we were given minutes from the previous council meeting, the current meeting agenda, as well reports from each office, usually totalling up between 20-30 pages per person.
Multiply that by 20 people, that's 400 to 600 pages per month! In 2008, we stuck with paper for two meetings before switching to digital form.
er..i think dell is also good because of their warranty!
i've been using a dell laptop for 2 and a half years.
Also, if i'm not mistaken, for the ball registration, i saw them still using paper to write down names of people and register tables.
Zhen,
Then why weren't we supplied with the whole agenda and meetings if it is all digital? Its only uploading 1 file onto the internet. Why were we only given a concise agenda?
@Zhong Loon:
Erm... Well that one I frankly don't know why.
I just only discovered that the meeting reports/agendas aren't on the website. I'll check with the secretary tomorrow, and try to get it uploaded soon.
i think most important now is not simply bash bash.
Now MUSA are aware so they will be improving.. You all bash bash also no point right?
They are also willing to debate...authors of this blog...can take up challenge or not?
And why this blog so bias against speak??? The publicity officer in charge of musaonline so lazy.... The science rep running for president of SMILE also kelam kabut dunno anything when he doin ticketing at the ball booth.... so bias..
To anonymous,
Leave SMILE out of this. They have nothing to do with this. Seems like you yourself have some personal grudge against him....
I dun see Sci or Engineering reps do anything that deserved standing ovation! Be mature, wud you?
on the constitution issue, it isn't about the MUSA VP post if you read clearly!! Get your fact correct, ok??Are you blind?? That person said the positions in clubs and societies!! ARE YOU BLIND!!?! Ppl making a fuss is you!
FYI, there is no Publicity Officer now!!! He has resigned. He inherited a useless web from the previous council. If you keep complaining, y don't you help him then? Dumbass! you seems to be targeting all BLAZEs. Only God knows you're from SPEAK!
The nomination list hasn't been announced and yet you know the details of SMILE party..hmmm, if you say you are not from SPEAK, I wud really doubt that. unless you're Yung Lin close friend who is now backstabbing him......tweet~! bai jia zi!
open debate:? Monash is no DAP vs Gerakan!
peace out!
May I know if every students will get the benefit from the student council or not. Thx.
the same goes to IT and Art reps...everyone dun do anything much that deserved an 'award'....
targetting Sci reps only--> aren't you bias yourself?? LOSER!!
WOW.
Things are certainly heating up around here.
Based on whats goin on, I just have a few things on my mind.
First of. The "laptop".
we all know that the going digital would help save the environment and is used by the Gen sec to record minutes, but why is the president (who isnt writing the minutes) keeping it? shouldn't it be the Gen sec being in charge of it?
I know musa is not all powerful, but as the student council, wouldn't you be able to come to a better agreement rental terms with the facilities. Im sure as the Student Council of Monash, they would have more faith in you guys to take good care of it and hopefull extend the usage to more then 5 days?
As for it being used to blast music for the booth for Monash Ball, PLEASE la...you can get better sound quality and even speakers from Facilities Dept. :)
Regarding the transparency of MUSA, i personally feel that it should be included in MONGA. Sure, it may be available online, but how many of us actually go online to look for it? Yes, its our own decision and own choice to look for it but Should it appear on MONGA, wouldn't it reflect better transparency and letting Monash students know what has issues and decisions have been going on behind those closed doors?
Im just saying, that if that were to happen, all these accusations wouldn't have happen today as students would be more aware on what is goin on.
I guess i've said what i need to say. If there really is goin to be a debate, why not during the election debate. I'm sure it would sure be a fiery heated debate.
So people, BRING YOUR PROOF to accuse or defend!!
Cheers...
~"why so serious?" Joker
eh eh...Zax resigned already ah? How come i still see him normal in office today?
And science rep this year from blaze/smile la.
Why so bias? this whole blog abt speak only..should talk abt all ma...
Btw, today the nomination lists from both party out d... nvr see?
Whats wrong with open debate? Isn't it more transparent? Ppl can see... Takkan want to hid, be a coward blogging only?
to anonymous,
whoa, whats with Blaze and Smile and Yung Lin? How do you know that Smile is the one who set up this blog? Are you thinking too much? name yung lin's contribution? haha, what is this man? personal attack ar? swt on you..
Yes, the musa website is under Publicity Officer. If he doesn't do the job well, the council has no responsibility in guiding or helping him? This is another weakness of the current council made out of SPEAK members, majority. As pointed by a current council member, the office bearers will just do their own job, and wont care about other office bearers. For instance, if the publicity officer is having trouble in setting up the musa website, the president or gen sec wont give a damn and will just "shoot" him during meetings AND at the end of the day, nothing is being done to overcome the problem.
Toshiba is well known to be a luxury line laptop. HP Compaq, rm2k + with all the latest specs.. MUST buy toshiba?
why SPEAK shoudnt be voted in? then we have to see who is the president for new speak and who is his master (current president).. there is always a saying, legacy will continue. this upcoming speak party will be the 3rd speak party.. we have seen how did the 1st and 2nd speak party performed generally although not all speak members does a bad job. if the root is not good, so will be the fruits.
oh please. that's just like last year's elections. who was SPEAK's mentor??? that you should ask as well, shouldn't you? now why did the other parties not win the elections??? once again, ask yourself that question before hitting on others.
this is a case of playing dirty which i must say, YOU FAIL! i mean seriously, how can everyone doubt just SPEAK alone? once again, i insist that everyone check out the other teams.
speaking of which, how can everyone be sure yung lin did anything ... or didnt? unless u're beside him 24/7 and seeing his every move, i don't think u'd ever know. same goes with the other musa members.
considering most of the ex-musa members and current ex-co members are present, don't you think we would know more of the inside of what's going on unlike you?
if you'd ever wanted to know what's going on, you should just sit in during the meetings!!!! request to be a silent participant of what happens during the meeting.
For instance, if the publicity officer is having trouble in setting up the musa website, the president or gen sec wont give a damn and will just "shoot" him during meetings AND at the end of the day, nothing is being done to overcome the problem.
You have no idea how silly this argument sounds. As council members at university level, I believe we must have a certain maturity and responsibility when carrying out our tasks.
Which is why we "shoot", otherwise we're spoonfeeding, and if we have to resort to spoonfeeding anybody, that person probably isn't doing their job at all. We shouldn't be spoonfeeding at a university council, no?
I am also of the opinion that once elected into the council, each office bearer must do enough such that they prove themselves worthy of the post they hold. If someone's not up to the task and require constant shooting to get any job done at all... I think there are many other more worthy people dying to get into the council but couldn't (or didn't).
And if we don't give a damn, why would we be shooting? We shoot because without urging, the council will just remain stagnant and undynamic. In fact, isn't shooting exactly what this blog is trying to achieve?
Side note: Of course, I'm very happy with certain members of the council whom I deem have performed well enough (some beyond expectations!) to deserve their post. Likewise, I'm unhappy with some, too. Nevertheless, I shall name no names but rest assured, I'm completely ambivalent towards party/ticket association. Be it SPEAK or BLAZE, if you're good, you're good, if you're bad, you're bad.
basically you all are whining about a simple matter that could be handled in a straightforward matter, but because of the dumbfuckery of the lot of you, you decide to make life harder.

I personally blame society for all this crap, kids these days just don't have any respect for the laws of society.
Im just wondering, how much better would the new party be as compared to how bad speak is as stated by the author of this blog. In the last elections we have heard of aspirations like building a multistory carpark, we all knew it wasnt feasible, but yet some still voted for them ? What makes anyone think that a change would mean any different ?
Does this author have any basis ? that we wouldnt know, how about everyone just turn up for the next student council meeting and find out ? there should be at least one before the next elections ?
With great power comes great responsibility, but great power makes great corruptors. Let those who have never done wrong throw the first stone.
haha, im not trying to say that helping out is spoonfeeding.. a successful leader(s) should always show concern and guidance towards his/her subordinates.. there is a total lack of interaction between office bearers if you can feel it..
I agree with the above comment, kids these days are completely out of control. A couple of days ago I was down at the shops buying some milk and I was mugged by some 13 year old brat with a knife. This is all because of violent media like Naruto and Grand Theft Auto.
i agree with you zhong loon. i just bought the latest acer laptop last month. I upgraded the laptop which cost me nearly RM3000 only. I dont know how come MUSA spent so much on the laptop. If MUSA bought the laptop about 5 yrs bk, i believe the laptop will cost that much.
saiful, i dont mean to offend but, if you have proof by all means show it to the world, blank allegations dont really mean anything.. eg.. bring a mattress with you next time ?
You guys know what? Kids will always be kids, they'd try to act all serious thinking that's the way to be mature, but that isn't. And you kn--
OH SHIT!! TOM CRUISE!!! LORD XENU SAVE ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
To zhen,
NOW only you discovered that the meeting reports/agendas aren't on the website. Hello!!! This is the month of August. Why dont you ask them to update the website NEXT YEAR!!!!
haha, im not trying to say that helping out is spoonfeeding.. a successful leader(s) should always show concern and guidance towards his/her subordinates.. there is a total lack of interaction between office bearers if you can feel it..
Total lack? There's always interaction between the office bearers... Unless of course the bearers aren't even in their own offices, then I can't interact with them. I'm almost always in, by the way. In fact, I think I spend more time in my office than anyone else in the entire council! Shows you what kind of a uni life I've got...
And Re: guidance, we're not so unreasonable as to merely shoot without asking questions and giving suggestions. Well, at least I'm not.
zhen, i know you doing a good job as the treasurer.. you are a friendly person and of course you always interact with other office bearers.
what i am trying to point out is, there is lack of interaction between office bearers GENERALLY and not a certain ppl.. appreciate your sacrifices for musa and monashians.
@Zhen: it really does mate, it really does....
It shows us all that you have a pretty laidback uni life, and thus, you should be in my backyard farming my field of tomatoes
NOW only you discovered that the meeting reports/agendas aren't on the website. Hello!!! This is the month of August. Why dont you ask them to update the website NEXT YEAR!!!!
I know that the minutes, reports and agendas aren't up... until they were uploaded just today. But I only found out an hour ago that only the minutes are up, and the reports/agendas aren't up.
Also, hello, you're in uni (I think). Why don't you use your commonsense and rationale, and then think things through before immediately jumping to conclusions?
hey keegan,
if i'm not mistaken,
i heard from a member of staff that by 2010 or whenever monash phase 2 is completed, there will be a multi-story carpark
@Zhen: it really does mate, it really does....
It shows us all that you have a pretty laidback uni life, and thus, you should be in my backyard farming my field of tomatoes
Unless they're cherry tomatoes, I'll pass. ;)
Unless they're cherry tomatoes, I'll pass. ;)
you'll be farming the normal tomatoes, while i'll be popping your cherry ;D
It's all so retarded. So very retarded.
The current MUSA council isn't BLAZE or SMILE or SPEAK or (insert random party name).
They are the student council. The majority may have been from the SPEAK ticket of the 2007 elections, having said that at this point in time they compromise a mix of students the majority being from SPEAK with some being from BLAZE.
I reiterate, they are not SPEAK or SMILE for that matter. They are the current student council.
If you look at the composition of parties for this semester SMILE comprises of a greater percentage of current council members, some of which are from the previous SPEAK ticket of 2007 and also the BLAZE ticket of 2007. And SPEAK is practically all new faces, with possibly new ideas or not. I don't know.
So I ask why say no to SPEAK? The current President/Female VP/Gen Sec/Treasurer/Editor/Male Activities Chairperson and a number of others are not running again. They were all from the previous SPEAK ticket not the new SPEAK ticket.
So what are we saying no to?
It seems to me that if you look at it logically someone is trying to dirty the new SPEAK with this blogpost and not bring to justice the wrongs of the current council members if any wrongs do exist. I highly doubt that they do but nevertheless one must keep one's mind open.
And if wrong doings did occur then I ask is SMILE the party for you? Those who are current student council members and are now running in SMILE, assisted in the decisions made on that council and just as to blame for not saying something earlier when they have noticed what was going on, if anything was. And if they didn't notice, it clearly makes you wonder what other wrong doings they may allow if they get elected.
However I think they're all very clever people and would have noticed if something was amiss.
Thus meaning that nothing actually happened and all this is a lie designed to cause you to doubt the SPEAK 2008 campaign and thus make the other party look better.
I'm not saying that anyone from SMILE had anything to do with this. Perhaps it someone who just doesn't like any of the current council.
So I ask why say no to SPEAK?
Shouldn't this blog be called "the Monash Student Council are thieves" or "the MSC has been misusing our funds"
The fact that SPEAK is clearly mentioned means that someone wants to discredit the new SPEAK.
So again I say, the current MUSA council isn't BLAZE or SMILE or SPEAK or (insert random party name). They are the Monash Student Council.
So close to the elections. Especially since it would seem a lot of this has been going on since the start of the semester. Why only talk about SPEAK? Why even mention SPEAK? Why not just say the student council? Maybe it's just a coincidence, maybe.
I highly doubt.
didnt hear about that Zhong Loon, ill believe it when i see it in black and white maybe ? i heard from the guard too that they are going to build condos right where the construction is at.. oh well nothing official has been said.
wow whoever created this blog is damn childlike! i mean why would u wanna shoot speak down through a blog? fight fair and square lah idiots of the century!
About office bearers not taking responsibility? The people voted that person. If they choose not to listen is it possible for the council relief him of his duty on behalf of the students? or tell him to buck up even if he doesn't listen? If so would it be very nice to have a public display of what people did or did not do?
I think this place should be where you talk if your questions are not answered by musa.. post your questions at their web page. or their blogspot its given already
I don't think all musa members have the luxury to visit all websites to clarify their things. As always a direct mail through their webmail address is readily available. but now, got one centralized one. post it there
@ Zhoong: post it at the musa blog if u still not satisfied with answers here.
@ mr tong: if there is any group or individual left out that need be help voice out boxes are available. the council handles to ensure there's proper posting up of posters and not everything under the sun ends up there. discuss any problems with lecturers via school reps, plan the ball, activities for students, orientation, the orientation bash, the student lounge etc. maintenance and upgrading/patching
If this thread just keeps going on the same issues addressed, I guess its just to feel important cause you didn't get such publicity before. How can there be people just wanting to be spoon fed even after the spoon and meal is put in front of them.
I noticed that only a few realised that the blog was about discrediting SPEAK when the underlying issue is a MUSA affair. Fuck? That's like banging the gerakan party for Mahathir's fucking up of the country. See, its aimed I tell you. The only conclusion I can draw from this is that someone or some body or org has a well timed need for fucking over SPEAK's creds. Sorry for the semi-shorthand but anyway fuckin hell this is the ultimate in dirty politics if someone was politically motivated by this. So what if MUSA is SPEAK dominated? Its not completely SPEAK so why are they to be completely blamed if shit is as such? Seems fuckin shady to me...just a thought
Chua Soi Lek is THE MAN!!!!
FINALLY, SOMEONE MAKES SENSE!!!
Mr longbottoms, seems like you're one of the few intellectuals here!
Recap? Here it is:-

Pissing in a sea of piss
Blowing up a stupid matter like this, way to go you damn idiots.
Thanks for providing this website to fight for our rights. I really don't like the ways they did the things for the last 2 years and they never consider the interests of the students. We are not blind. We know what is going in the university. How come most of the SPEAK supporters always use impolite words. Maybe this is the way to get face back when they have nothing much to argue back.
I WON I WON I WON!!!WOHOOOOO!!!Im gona screw sum BN aSses as soon as i got into the parliament!!WohhOOOooooO!justice and truth shall be prevailed!!
As long as this blog was set up by the name of justice and not personal interest, victory is almost a certain. God blesses those with good noble intention and im sure that was the reason why this blog was created. If this blog wasnt created, we would become like our forefathers who voted blindly for BN for the past 50 years!!The corrupts shall be screwed thru their asses and the evils shall be vanquished thru their penis!!
Is race now a criteria behind the selection?
For all we know, NONE of the Monash Ball pageant finalists are international students.
And, ALL of the Ms Monash ladies are Chinese!
Ball Pageant Department biased towards races? International students don't stand a chance? Non-Chinese girls neither?
Shouldn't they at least include international students and girls from race other than Chinese to reflect diversity and equality?
from what we observed.. try to think, how many of these monash ball finalists are related to musa?
nobody apply, means don't have to do anything? and just qualify your fellow musa-speak-affiliated friends?
during last year's ball, i have seen the ball committee hunting for potential canditates for mr and ms monash..
think again..
now that you've mentioned it only i remember, last year's ball, hmm the victors of the mr and ms monash were frens of blaze, who organised the ball blaze ? must be benefits of organising the ball then. Seriously if anyone think they can do a better job at any post in MSC regardless of party, aiyo why didnt you try to run for a position ? If u think that your decision the last time elections came around was wrong then this time instead of leaving your brains at home vote wisely. The last malaysian elections for example, ppl were tired of the ruling party then and they voted against, good on them.
Seriously all this people are posting without knowing the inside story of what is going on.WAKE UP!!!!.The opposing party has fucked up more, and the only things you guys have pointed out are the weakness of people in SPEAK.We are human, we do have our errors. What you didn't know is that more people fucked up in their jobs and are now in SMILE.I guess they made a good job at covering up so that when they do get elected, they can also fuck up and cover it.Way to go assholes. At least in SPEAK you do see their weaknesses.Next time do your bloody research before pointing fingers.ASSwipes.
to keegan who said
"now that you've mentioned it only i remember, last year's ball, hmm the victors of the mr and ms monash were frens of blaze, who organised the ball blaze ? must be benefits of organising the ball then."
FYI, last year's ball vote counting and organizer for monash pageant was under a department headed by musa committee members who weren't involved in the election of 2007. certain member(s) of that department was from SPEAK as well.. shame on you for making such a comment, please get your facts right my friend. i really respect and appreciate the ball committee who worked like crazy.
actually if u all noticed..
4/5 outta the girls selected for Ms. Monash are always around MUSA
3 out of these 4 are always around the offices or loungies and
1 of them is running for speak..
as for the guys 3/5 ah bengs.. and
3/5 of them are running for speak..
so that makes up of 40% speak candidates for Mr. n Ms. Monash..
Nice counting dipshit. At least I know how you can get into this uni in the first place.
My two cents:
I honestly think that this issue has gone out of hand. I mean people are now spiting each other for the silliest reasons and then they get all like angry and stuff. I say, when i showed all of these comments to my mom she told me i was going to move in with my aunt and uncle in Bel Air.I whistled for a cab and when it came near the, License plate said fresh and had a dice in the mirror,If anything I could say that this cab was rare,But I thought now forget it, yo home to bel-air.I pulled up to a house about seven or eight, And I yelled to the cabby yo, home smell you later, Looked at my kingdom I was finally there, To settle my throne as the prince of bel-air

Just started to read this blog. At first it says so no to speak. Then it goes on to what speak has or have not done. Then it evolves to students pitting against each other. For crying out loud people, what is the use and point of slandering and making certain statements that cannot be backed up with evidence. What is this, a place for you to release your anger over something that happened to you because as far as the comments evolve from saying what the current problem are to pure insults and yo mama and yo papa insults. Grow up people, if you think that by doing that your point and voice can be heard then u are 100% wrong. What it will do is just cause people that u insulted to get angrier and insults u back and the cycle goes on. I do go to MUSA offices regularly but i am not involve so i dont know much of what goes on there. So concerning the cases that have been brought forward, if it is indeed true then it is just a matter of time before it is found out and if it never happened then the people that started to slander or insult others would be feeling pretty stupid then. I agree with zhen's earlier post that it doesn't matter which party anyone belongs to, if he/she is good at their job then they are good, if they are bad then they are bad. What's important is the benefit the students get and preserving the welfare of the students. What happens when new students or current students see the comments and post? what would they think of the students and student leaders?
Anyway. i hope i havent insulted anyone or slandered anyone, quite a long post. Hope that you guys and lose the anger and comment nicely and please do hold back on the personal or any insults. No one likes to be slandered or insulted
just something i wish to know. If anyone of u know the truth, please tell me. Darren said that the DRO was appointed by the pres, VP, Secretary and Treasurer. But isnt VP ikky who is running as SPEAK president now? then like that a bit not logic right? cuz how can he choose DRO while he will be the candidate? or is the VP mentioned was Shazea? If shazea is still the VP then why appoint ikky as the VP? Sorry if i offended anyone, but i m just confused.
Hmm...the best action to prove innocent is to publicly display MUSA's yearly accounting report...which alot of people believe doesn;t exist.
