If there's one thing SPEAK hasn't learned, it is this: Talking can only go as far, but people are not blind. Students have eyes to see where our student government is moving towards, and talking does not justify everything!
Lessons SPEAK should learn:
1. Corrupted politicians won't go far trying to justify themselves through only talking. All the while, the saying 'Actions speak louder than words' is as true as ever.
2. People are not blind and have eyes to see.
3. People should not fear the government, in fact the government should fear the people.
4. There will always be students who will be dissatisfied (such as us), but how the matter is handled says a lot. When a problem arises, which is more effective - talking and telling people everything is alright, or standing up and take action to find solutions?
In short, SPEAK should really open up their eyes. I suggest that SPEAK should start serving the interests of students properly instead of own selfish gains first.
Furthermore, why is SPEAK using the MUSA Blog? MUSA if i am not mistaken is all students, the MUSA Council (MSC) is the student council who represents MUSA. The opinions expressed on MUSA Blog does not represent the views of ALL students but rather the views of SPEAK. SPEAK should not be using MUSA Blog (owned by us students!) to rebut any arguments made on this website. SPEAK does not own MUSA and should not be using the MUSA Blog for ANY political views as this contains the views of a FEW people of MUSA not all students of MUSA. Should the MSC want to defend their decisions, they should be using their own independent website, not the MUSA Blog.
Are we going to allow these people to exploit such channels?

The current MUSA council isn't BLAZE or SMILE or SPEAK or (insert random party name).
They are the student council. The majority may have been from the SPEAK ticket of the 2007 elections, having said that at this point in time they compromise a mix of students the majority being from SPEAK with some being from BLAZE.
I reiterate, they are not SPEAK or SMILE for that matter. They are the current student council.
If you look at the composition of parties for this semester SMILE comprises of a greater percentage of current council members, some of which are from the previous SPEAK ticket of 2007 and also the BLAZE ticket of 2007. And SPEAK is practically all new faces, with possibly new ideas or not. I don't know.
So I ask why say no to SPEAK? The current President/Female VP/Gen Sec/Treasurer/Editor/Male Activities Chairperson and a number of others are not running again. They were all from the previous SPEAK ticket not the new SPEAK ticket.
So what are we saying no to?
It seems to me that if you look at it logically someone is trying to dirty the new SPEAK with this blogpost and not bring to justice the wrongs of the current council members if any wrongs do exist. I highly doubt that they do but nevertheless one must keep one's mind open.
And if wrong doings did occur then I ask is SMILE the party for you? Those who are current student council members and are now running in SMILE, assisted in the decisions made on that council and just as to blame for not saying something earlier when they have noticed what was going on, if anything was. And if they didn't notice, it clearly makes you wonder what other wrong doings they may allow if they get elected.
However I think they're all very clever people and would have noticed if something was amiss.
Thus meaning that nothing actually happened and all this is a lie designed to cause you to doubt the SPEAK 2008 campaign and thus make the other party look better.
I'm not saying that anyone from SMILE had anything to do with this. Perhaps it someone who just doesn't like any of the current council.
So I ask why say no to SPEAK?
Shouldn't this blog be called "the Monash Student Council are thieves" or "the MSC has been misusing our funds"
The fact that SPEAK is clearly mentioned means that someone wants to discredit the new SPEAK.
So again I say, the current MUSA council isn't BLAZE or SMILE or SPEAK or (insert random party name). They are the Monash Student Council.
So close to the elections. Especially since it would seem a lot of this has been going on since the start of the semester. Why only talk about SPEAK? Why even mention SPEAK? Why not just say the student council? Maybe it's just a coincidence, maybe.
I highly doubt.
winning an argument here just makes u retarded.nobody wins here.go watch the coming debatela and see who power?
see what our government's been doing, all talks through public media and no action
it's no wonder people support the opposition, people are not stupid!
Come on,
One thing that i have learned is... when you are elected into a council, throw your party name away and work under the same name which is called the Monash Student Council.
Oppose when you think you are right. Agree when you think they are right.
Enough said.
current speak line up has a bunch of fat assed faggots inside.. and i'm not from smile either.. by the way vote for vishnu for mr. monash!!!
the writer of this blog is such a retard..... u spend all ur time jus bitching about SPEAK?.. u guys r so sad. u have no life.... y would anybody want to vote for a party that bitches and backstabs another prty? its called a demcracy you idiots.... you guys should get a life u loosers
i'm egg-miao. yoyoyo! mari bersama sama kita beryoyo
Just started to read this blog. At first it says so no to speak. Then it goes on to what speak has or have not done. Then it evolves to students pitting against each other. For crying out loud people, what is the use and point of slandering and making certain statements that cannot be backed up with evidence. What is this, a place for you to release your anger over something that happened to you because as far as the comments evolve from saying what the current problem are to pure insults and yo mama and yo papa insults. Grow up people, if you think that by doing that your point and voice can be heard then u are 100% wrong. What it will do is just cause people that u insulted to get angrier and insults u back and the cycle goes on. I do go to MUSA offices regularly but i am not involve so i dont know much of what goes on there. So concerning the cases that have been brought forward, if it is indeed true then it is just a matter of time before it is found out and if it never happened then the people that started to slander or insult others would be feeling pretty stupid then. I agree with zhen's earlier post that it doesn't matter which party anyone belongs to, if he/she is good at their job then they are good, if they are bad then they are bad. What's important is the benefit the students get and preserving the welfare of the students. What happens when new students or current students see the comments and post? what would they think of the students and student leaders?
Anyway. i hope i havent insulted anyone or slandered anyone, quite a long post. Hope that you guys and lose the anger and comment nicely and please do hold back on the personal or any insults. No one likes to be slandered or insulted
Why is an extra laptop needed?
I don't see how it may be necessary.
In fact, last year's council did pretty alright without an extra laptop.
The Editor's office was well equipped with Photoshop and was able to produce sufficient issues of MonGa throughout the year.
The General Secretary was able to run meetings efficiently without interruption.
The Activities Chairpersons were able to produce good quality posters and publicity materials.
The Ball Ticketing Committee were able to administer ticket sales and collection effectively.
The Ball Entertainment Committee were able to deliver weekly publicity performance with sound systems from Facilities Dept.
So in what ways an extra laptop is needed?
Sadly the one thing this blog has accomplished is nothing, except maybe to screw things up for both the SMILE and SPEAK parties.
noone can please anyone.
Can i borrow the MUSA laptop since it was purchased using students money?
Yes me too! It's my money!
